Our rental agreement, payment terms, damage policies, and your responsibilities when renting with us.
Rental Agreement
Rental Period
All rentals are for a 4-day period, structured around your event date.
- Rental Start: Typically, 1-2 days before your event date (the date you select as your "wear date").
- Rental End: The day you must return the dress via the designated courier shop.
- Date Blocking: When you book a dress, we automatically block:
- Your selected event date
- The day before your event date
- Two days after your event date
- An additional 3-day cleaning buffer between rentals
Responsibility for Items
By renting with us, you agree to take reasonable care of the dress during your rental period.
While we understand that normal wear is part of the rental experience, you are responsible for damages beyond normal wear, as well as loss or theft of the item.
Payment Terms
Pricing & Fees
Your total payment at checkout will include:
- Rental Price: The listed price for your selected dress.
- Shipping Fee: A flat-rate fee for delivery and return shipping.
- Optional Damage Coverage: $15.00 fee if you elect to add minor damage coverage.
Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By completing checkout, you:
- Authorize the charge for your rental, shipping, and any selected add-ons.
- Acknowledge that additional charges may be applied for damages, late returns, or loss in accordance with our damage policy.
Cancellation & Refunds
Our cancellation policy is as follows:
- Cancellations 42+ hours before rental start: 50% refund of the rental price.
- Cancellations within 42 hours of rental start: No refund.
- No-shows: No refund.
To cancel a booking, please contact our customer service team as soon as possible.
Damage Policy
Minor Damage Coverage
We offer optional minor damage coverage for $15.00, which covers:
- Minor stains that can be removed with professional cleaning
- Small tears or damage that can be repaired
- Coverage is limited to damages valued up to $100.00
Minor damage coverage does not cover:
- Excessive or irreparable damage
- Loss or theft of the dress
- Late returns
Damage Without Coverage
If you choose not to add damage coverage, you will be responsible for:
- The cost of repairs for any damage during your rental period
- The full market value of the dress (as listed on the product page) for damages beyond repair, loss, or theft
Damage Assessment Process
When a dress is returned:
- Our team inspects it thoroughly for any damage.
- If damage is found, we will assess whether it can be repaired and the associated costs.
- You will be notified of any damage findings and any charges that will be applied to your payment method.
- For transparency, we will provide documentation of the damage and repair estimates.
Late Return Fees
Returning your dress after the scheduled return date may result in late fees:
- 1 day late: 20% of the rental price
- 2+ days late: Additional fees apply, as late returns impact our ability to fulfill other customers' bookings
Alterations & Care
No Alterations Policy
You agree not to make any alterations or permanent modifications to the dress. This includes but is not limited to hemming, taking in seams, or adding permanent embellishments.
Dress Care Guidelines
While wearing the dress:
- Avoid contact with makeup, self-tanner, perfumes, and oils
- Avoid smoking while wearing the dress
- Take care with food and beverages to prevent spills
- Store the dress on the provided hanger when not in use to prevent creasing or damage
Liability & Agreement
By completing checkout and confirming your rental, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all terms and conditions outlined on this page.
You also authorize DressHire.co.nz to charge the payment method provided at checkout for the rental, as well as any additional charges that may be incurred for damages, late returns, or loss in accordance with our policies.
